Book Club Challenge
Ten years of staying curious longer

The
AWE
Club.

And What Else? Your club, your rules. Name it and make it yours.

The best part of The Coaching Habit? Turns out it’s other people.

A note from MBS

Question 2 in the book is the AWE Question: “And what else?” It’s the most powerful question in the whole thing, not because it’s clever, but because it makes space. It says: I’m not done listening. Keep going. There’s more here.

This club is the “and what else?” of the sixteen we wrote guides for. It’s for any group that doesn’t fit the other fifteen. The Swim Team. The Walking Club. The Hedonists. The Skeptics. The We-Read-This-At-3am Club. Whatever you’ve built, this is your category. Define it, name it, and send us a photo. We want to see what you came up with.

Two people is a book club.

What this looks like

1

Name your club

What is it, exactly? The more particular, the better.

2

Find your people

The fellow swim teammates, the 3 AM crew, the neighbours, whoever fits your specific vibe.

3

Read the book your way

You know your format. Use it.

4

Submit your answer to Question 7, plus your club name

We want to know what you invented. That’s your entry in the draw.

How you’ll run it

One Shot

Everyone reads the book first, then 60–90 minutes together on the questions.

Three Shots

Better for going deeper. Take the extra time together to pick one or two of the Seven Essential Questions and start practicing.

Questions worth staying with

On the AWE Question

What’s the best “And what else?” moment you’ve had lately, the time staying curious one beat longer completely changed where a conversation went?

On the Advice Monster

When did your Advice Monster show up this week, and what did it cost the conversation?

The Advice Monster is the part of you that jumps straight to advice.

On adding rules

Michael recently shared an 8th Question: “What do you know to be true?” If your unique group was going to create a 9th, a 10th, and beyond, what would you add?

Just for fun

Name your club in exactly three words. Then snap a picture of your group and upload it when you submit your answer at mbs.works/bookclub.

To close — Question 7

What was most useful for you? And what else?

What was most useful for you?

That’s Question 7 and it’s the inspiration for your submission. When your group finishes, your group’s organizer submits something you found useful, from the book, the experience, the time together, whatever your group decides. Include a photo or video from your club with your submission. A screenshot of a video call counts. A picture of your text thread counts.

Winners are selected every two months. Cycle 1 closes August 19. Cycle 2 closes October 5. Cycle 3 closes December 31, 2026.
